Hemorrhagic Ovarian Cyst – How Do You Know You’ve Got It?
Causes of Ovarian Cysts January 16th, 2010Did you do a Google search for symptoms of ovarian cysts, even for a possible hemorrhagic ovarian cyst, and are you afraid that you may be right? Pressure, swelling and pain in the abdomen… check! Dull ache in the lower back, weight gain, tender breasts, menstrual irregularities… yep, yep and yep! If you could catch a break in life you’re not quite sure you would know what to do with yourself. Imagine that you can come to grips with your ovarian cyst yourself!
The first step to know as much as your doc about your cyst, is to be well informed! In my experience, doctors can tell you a lot of things, actually I don’t trust them. I rather see my naturopath instead! When I was found out to have a cyst, I had a sonogram taken, of course, yes, I saw my doc. There is no other way to find out, as far as I know, and I was in big enough pain anyways.
So, what do women experience having an ovarian hemorrhagic cyst?
Ovarian cysts may cause complications when they rupture, hemorrhage, or twist. Complex cysts such as dermoid, endometrial, and cystadenoma cysts are more affected by complications than simple, follicular, or luteal cysts.
If the bleeding is confined within the ovary and is not released into the abdomen, a hemorrhagic cyst will form. This is simply a pocket of blood. Hemorrhagic ovarian cysts can also occur and regress, undetected, during a normal menstrual cycle. They may not require any treatment unless the doctor may say so otherwise. In cases where these cysts ruptures thereby causing pain, an open surgery or laparoscopy may be an option.
Hemorrhagic cysts that rupture are less common. Most hemorrhagic cysts are self-limiting; some need surgical intervention. When surgery becomes imperative, laparoscopy is commonly applied to eliminate hemorrhaging ovarian cysts as it is the most minimally invasive form of surgery to treat the case. Termed pinhole or keyhole surgery, it uses a very small incision close to the belly button to insert the camera and a rod lens for the surgery.
Women with this kind of cyst need to be aware of an ectopic pregnancy because the coexistence of both entities is increased. Some women appeared to have an increased tendency to form ovarian cysts, suggested by the fact that 26% of them had a past, concurrent, or future episode of simple or hemorrhagic cysts. Because hemorrhagic cysts have variable sonographic findings, they should be included in the differential diagnosis to eliminate cancer.
Don’t despair when you have a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst diagnosed. Normally, it isn’t acute that means you have got time to do something about it, to shrink it, and to make it go away for good. Resorting to natural, holistic alternatives gives you the reigns instead of handing them over to your doc.
